Tips for Homeowners
Furnaces and Boilers
- Furnaces
- Change your air filter every 90 days to maintain good air quality and smooth operation of your furnace
- Keep an eye on your thermostat. If you do not have a 24V source powering it, the batteries may die and leave you without heat!
- Don't cover or clutter the areas near your cold air returns or hot air registers. Your system's health and most efficient operation relies on proper air flow.
- Owners of high-efficiency furnaces should always be on the lookout for condensate (it looks like water) in and/or around the furnace. Condensate leaks are BAD NEWS and should be corrected as soon as possible!
- Boilers
- Keep an eye on your system pressure. It should only vary slightly when running and on standby and should NEVER be at ZERO.
- Be aware of any leaks! If there is water OUTSIDE your boiler, there is a problem!
- Don't let your equipment get too dirty. Remove any dust or debris that accumulates near, in and on top of the boiler. Just like any equipment, it needs to be clean to operate at peak efficiency!
- Listen for strange noises. You know your system more intimately than anyone else. If something sounds off, call us! Catching catastrophic failures before they happen SAVES YOU MONEY.
- Schedule an annual Tune and Inspection in which our qualified technicians will come out to inspect your system and ready it for winter.
- When you schedule a Tune and Inspection, please prepare for our technicians by clearing the area around your equipment. We appreciate it!
